2. What Data We Collect
Account data: email address, preferred language, account creation date. We use magic-link email authentication. We do not collect or store passwords.
Subscription data: which companies you follow, when you followed them, and your alert preferences.
Billing data: subscription plan, billing period, payment status, and invoice records. We do not store credit card numbers. Card details are processed entirely by Paytrail Oyj, our payment processor.
Usage data: pages visited, features used, alert delivery status. Collected to maintain and improve the Service.
3. Why We Process Your Data (Legal Basis)
Performance of contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)): processing your account registration, managing your subscription, delivering alerts, and processing payments.
Legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): analyzing usage patterns to improve the Service, preventing fraud and abuse, and ensuring the security of the Service.
Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)): marketing communications, if you opt in. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c)): retaining billing records as required by Finnish accounting legislation.
4. Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Paytrail Oyj (Business ID 2122839-7), a payment institution authorized and supervised by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. When you make a payment, you are redirected to Paytrail's secure payment page. We receive confirmation of payment status but never see or store your card details. Paytrail's privacy policy applies to data processed by Paytrail.
5. Email Communications
We send transactional emails: account verification, alert notifications, billing confirmations, and service announcements. These are essential to the Service and cannot be opted out of while maintaining an active account.
Alerts are sent from alerts@vireomarkets.com. Account emails are sent from login@vireomarkets.com. These emails are delivered via Resend, our email delivery provider.
6. Data Sharing
We share data with the following categories of service providers, solely for the purpose of operating the Service:
- Payment processing: Paytrail Oyj (Finland)
- Email delivery: Resend (USA)
- Hosting: Vercel (USA), Render (USA)
- Database: Neon (USA)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
For transfers outside the EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the service provider's participation in recognized data protection frameworks.
7. Data Retention
Account data: retained as long as your account is active, and deleted upon account deletion request, subject to legal retention requirements.
Billing records: retained for the period required by Finnish accounting legislation (currently 6 years from the end of the financial year).
Usage data: retained in aggregated, non-identifiable form. Individual usage logs are deleted within 12 months.
8. Your Rights Under GDPR
You have the right to: access your personal data, rectify inaccurate data, request erasure of your data (subject to legal retention requirements), restrict processing, data portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) or the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. The latest version is always available at vireomarkets.com/privacy-policy.
